got bored waiting for the paid contributor coadde to create the libc fork and decided to poke at the kernel code instead, making it build with gcc 16 port on openbsd :) 10:41 < librecat> it does partially boot on bare metal(it was getting further on the amd machine i bricked today tho) but there are 2-3 panics i need to debug 10:42 < librecat> in qemu it panics in the root mounting function before even trying to mount the root 10:42 < librecat> oh but that build was a RAMDISK kernel without a ramdisk embedded 10:43 < librecat> hmm but still, in qemu even with GENERIC.MP it assumes the thanks for the tip, i will insist that the team uses openbsd llvm 11:00 < librecat> Before i played with gcc i tried a build using whatever openbsd-current came with and it worked first try 11:00 < librecat> interms of compiler errors 11:00 < IcePic> I think people should be free to do whatever they like with source code given out freely of course, but it doesn't take a lot of misunderstandings before someone with a wrongly-built binary (ie, lacking obsd-specific ELF sections for instance) to start reporting it as obsd faults 11:01 < librecat> i just had to supress warnings because with a 2 person kernel team our fork is still based on 7.0 11:01 < librecat> I think that old ancient kernel combined with compilers way newer is the reason for so much breakage 11:01 -!- jupiter126
